As someone that doesn’t read a great deal, I particularly liked the gentle feel of the whole book. Quintessentially English characters that were both believable and endearing. The descriptions of friendships both long term and ‘new’ friends made along the way were really well crafted. The interaction between Barty and Lionel was both endearing and amusing. You also proved that loneliness doesn’t have to be a curse and you can still live a fulfilling life if you still have friends and interests. Overall charming, gentle and thoroughly enjoyable. I particularly liked the detailed descriptive writing around food, wine and the service time in the restaurant. A really good, easy read.

“I absolutely loved it, and bearing in mind I'm rather dyslexic, and had to read every word! I read it in a couple of days, as I just couldn’t put it down”
Peter Hall, Farmer
Barty, A Tale of A Stolen Bronze, is a delightful romp on the trail of a missing statue. It’s a story of friendship, whose adventures are reminiscent of P G Wodehouse & Lovejoy. I liked the vignettes of old town Hastings and a Norfolk country estate.

“It was an extremely good read, but I’m sure I must have gained several pounds either eating before, during or after!!!!”

“Thanks for the book and the card, I’ve finished reading it and look forward to the next one! Just a small point…please can you reduce the references to delicious food and luscious wine as I find myself running to the fridge between chapters!”
